What the athletes of the Italian national ski team revealed when the spotlights and the stopwatches were switched off
We asked the world’s best skiers to reveal their hidden side.
In recent weeks we have been lucky enough to spend time with the athletes of the Italian national ski team, getting to know their more intimate and personal side. The moments we shared were not about results or race plans. They were about the person who stands behind the athlete, in the hours when no one is watching.
The layer that matters most
What emerges from those moments is that the most hidden layer of a person is often the one that matters most, both on the slope and in everyday life. It is rarely the one that appears in the photographs, and it is almost never the one that crosses the finish line first. Yet it is the one that is there from the first light of the morning to the last of the evening.
Worn, tested, loved
Throughout this time, the athletes wore Natyon Biomorph, the official technical base layer of eight of the strongest alpine ski federations. They got to know it, tested it, and loved it so much that they kept wearing it when the spotlights and the stopwatches were switched off.
Kapok, and the science of comfort
That owes a great deal to the fibres and technologies behind the garment, and in particular to kapok, an exceptionally light fibre that naturally regulates the temperature of the body, both at rest and during performance. It turns cold into comfort, and comfort into performance.
On the World Cup circuit
Natyon Biomorph will be worn by the athletes of Italy, Austria, France, Great Britain, Slovenia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Spain throughout the 2026/27 World Cup season. Eight nations, one layer, and a season that begins, as every season does, with the part that no one sees.
Every layer counts.
"Every layer counts. Especially the one you never see."
