One More Lap

Floating down the slopes of hokkaido

Hokkaido is a tribute to the fleeting nature of winter, a pursuit of perfection in an environment that never stands still. There is nothing like the feeling of fresh snow under your skis: light, untouched, and pure. Weightless and free, floating down the slopes.

Now imagine living this every day.

That is the life of Sakka Hiranuma and Kenryu Tachieda, who have found their purpose in the mountains and in the rhythm of the outdoors, and who tried to share that with us. They welcomed us with the warmth and generosity that define Japanese hospitality, making us feel not like visitors, but like true locals.

Nature itself seemed to embrace the moment. A couple of centimeters of overnight snowfall, followed by a crisp bluebird morning. We woke before dawn to catch the magic, setting off at 6 a.m. to skin up a dormant volcano. At the summit, we were rewarded with 360-degree views of Hokkaido’s landscapes, guided not only by Sakka and Kenryu, but also by Combu, their dog, and the truest mountain guide of them all.

Life is crazy when you realize this is simply the Hiseko local style: waking early, stepping into the backcountry, finding untouched lines that feel both effortless and sacred, floating down before the clock strikes ten. While the rest of the world is only beginning its day, some have already lived enough to call it complete.

It is in this spirit that we return to our Italian headquarters, with a lesson to carry forward into everything we create for athletes and outdoor enthusiasts alike: nature is not a trend, it's our origin.

"IT'S JAPOW. THE POWDER IN JAPAN IS THE BEST. NOT TOO HEAVY, NOT TOO DRY. IT'S LIKE YOU'RE FRYING ON THE SNOW. IT FEELS SO GOOD"
